The Library Media Center (LMC) contains a wide range of print, non-print and online materials chosen to enrich the curriculum
and answer the needs of the varied interests of students and staff. The LMC is to be used as a quiet area for research, reading
and other appropriate activities. In order to ensure that everyone enjoys the opportunity to work and study in quiet
surroundings, students must follow ALL school guidelines established for appropriate behavior as outlined in the Student
Handbook.
General Rules of the LMC
Cell phones, iPods, headphones, and the wearing of hats are prohibited in the LMC at all times. Faculty will confiscate
unauthorized items and submit them to the security office. Food and drink is prohibited in the LMC.
Hours:
The LMC is open from 7:20 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 7:30 a.m. until 2:15 p.m. on Friday. Staff is
available to answer questions, locate materials and assist students in using the resources.
LMC Use - During School Hours:
All students must present a written pass from their teacher to use the LMC during a class or study hall. Upon entering the LMC
students must sign in on the attendance form specifically designated for that period. Failure to do so will be recorded as a
“cut”. Lunch time use of the LMC requires a pass issued by the Library Media Specialist - available in the LMC from 7:15 to
10:00a.m. every morning. The number of students may be limited each period depending on class use and computer
availability.
LMC Use - After School Hours - 2:15-3:30 p.m.
The LMC is open Monday through Thursday until 3:30 p.m. Note: There are no late buses on Mondays.
Students who need to use the LMC after school must report with their West Orange High School ID cards and sign in by 2:35.
Late bus passes will be provided at 3:20. Students entering the LMC AFTER 2:35 must present a hall pass and a late bus pass
